2012 Bernard Machado Pinot Noir

2012 Bernard Machado Pinot Noir

Wild, brambly red fruit integrated with white pepper spice, graphite minerality and a gentle earthiness provides a baseline for a wine that shows classically higher acidity bolstered by both the higher elevation of the site and the composition soils. Elegant, fine-grained tannins make this wine easily approachable and intently age worthy in a balance that illustrates great Pinot Noir.

The unique wind-deposited, Laurelwood soils of the Chehalem Mountains AVA in the northwestern Willamette Valley represent the profile of the rustic, red fruit-driven wines born from a nearly 30-year-old, own-rooted section of our La Cantera Vineyard.

The combination of a slow, natural fermentation of whole cluster and destemmed fruit followed by 15 months aging in once- and twice-fill French oak barrels defines the 2012 Bernard Machado as our benchmark wine, and our goal, of making a wine that is a unique part of a great place.
